Heavy Barrel is a 1987 overhead run and gun arcade game by Data East. Terrorists have seized the underground control complex of a nuclear missile site, and it is up to the player to infiltrate the base and kill the enemy leader. Players begin armed with a laser gun with unlimited ammunition and a limited supply of grenades. Improved weapons and grenade powerups are made available within the game, either in plain sight or within crates that must be unlocked using keys. Additionally, crates may contain orbs or one of the six pieces of the Heavy Barrel superweapon. Like SNK's Ikari Warriors, the original arcade version featured 8-way rotary joysticks. The name of the game is from an in-game weapon. The Heavy Barrel is found in six pieces and is an energy cannon capable of destroying any enemy in the game with a single shot (except the final enemy, and possibly one other boss that may have required two shots). The weapon has a wide arc of fire and can be fired as fast as the player's trigger finger permits, but after thirty seconds its use is exhausted, at which point the bearer reverts to his previous weaponry. Best used to get past tough bosses, the weapon could be built several times in a single game (probably three or four times). In a two-player game, whoever collects the sixth piece is equipped with the Heavy Barrel.

Realizando acciones útiles en cada modo, ganarás puntos, y acumular 5.000 puntos en cada modo te dará un asiento de Comandante Táctico. Aquí podrás continuar tus acciones en el campo, o realizar algunos movimientos tácticos usando el mapa, que es muy similar al territorio, incluyendo y rodeando Alemania Occidental.

Como viene siendo habitual, los juegos de Data East de los 90 son sinónimo de calidad, de diversión y de una jugabilidad a prueba de bombas. Heavy Smash cumple de sobra con esos requisitos y más. Empezamos escogiendo selección entre Estados Unidos, Japón, España, Brasil, Alemania, Inglaterra, Italia, Egipto, Australia (¡amazonas!) y la selección especial de cyborgs. Cada selección tiene habilidades diferentes y destaca más en algún que otro apartado (ataque especial, fuerza y defensa). Una vez escogido nuestro equipo favorito nos disponemos a jugar. El juego se controla con tres botones: uno para lanzar el balón, otro para pasarlo a otro compañero, y un tercer botón sirve para saltar. Tenemos un indicador de poder que se va llenando rápidamente con el tiempo y, cuando lo tenemos lleno del todo, podemos ejecutar un lanzamiento bestial con el que mandaremos al equipo contrario al quinto pino. Por cierto, el control de los porteros es automático.

The idea of the game is to keep the Hedge Hog on the path as he collects a number of bunches of cherries. Unfortunately you have no control over the Hedge Hog himself, and so must move sections of the path to form a trail for him to follow. He will be killed if he comes off the path.

Unfortunately Ragnarok is on its way and if that wasn't bad enough, Loki, god of mischief, has hidden Thor's hammer, Odin's sword and Frey's spear in three worlds. You, as the newly mortalized Heimdall, must visit each of these worlds to collect the god's weapons. The first is Midgard (or Earth), the second is Utgard (the world of the giants) and the third is Asgard itself, the home of the gods. Each world has around 15 islands and each island has countless rooms. When you start your mission you are given three sub-games to complete. How well you complete these games determines Heimdall's stats (strength, agility etc) as well as how many people he can choose from to make up his party. If you don't do well then you won't get the full 30 characters to choose from and some of the better ones will not be available to you. The first sub-game is the Axe Throwing Contest. Here you must throw axes at a young barmaid tied to a stock by her pig-tails. The idea is to hit the pig-tails and not her! Unfortunately because Heimdall is a bit drunk, your cursor wobbles all over the place! The second sub-game is Pig Catching (where you must chase and hopefully catch a pig in its pen) and the third is the Long Boat Fight (where you must try and get to the other side of the long boat without being thrown overboard). Once you've done this it's time to wander around the isometric landscape solving puzzles and killing baddies (in a similar style to Cadaver) until you eventually find one of the god's missing weapons.

Your people's clones are trapped behind an electric fence on each of the 23 levels of this action game. To rescue them you must pull up next to the fence and wait for them to cross, before placing them into one of the gaps on the left of the screen. The correct one to place the clone into cycles through in sequence. On each level a set number of these must be rescued. The difficulty is that a swamp lies between the fence and the safety zone, and it is constantly spawning creatures who kill you on contact. You are armed with bombs with kill in a direct downward trajectory, so will be using the top area of the screen a lot. Although you can slot into one of the home-cells and wait for the sequence to cycle round, this runs the risk of becoming trapped in the section as the swamp-creatures encroach. The colour of the swamp things dictates the score but not the difficulty. On later levels there are static hazards on screen, as well as enemies firing at you.
